You can probably delete the M-Audio Midisport device in your MIDI setup, unless you use an external MIDIsport interface. When in PT, go to Input Devices under the MIDI menu and make sure that you see a check box for the Keystation as well (and make sure it's checked ) ![]() This being said, if you hook up your Oxygen 8 to your USB port, start up PT and add a MIDI track and start recording, you should get MIDI data recorded onto the track. Maybe you can use this icon if you use the Oxygen 8 as an external controller only (without connecting it via USB as I mentioned in the first message)Īll this just goes to say (I think) is that the icon for the Keystation is the ONLY one you need for both controller and interface functionality. I tried to delete it within MIDI set-up but could not, but it doesn't seem to matter since I could record MIDI data into PT anyway. When I go to MIDI set-up, I get what you get, only I do not get an icon for M-Audio MIDIsport, only one for the Keystation (along with the IAC Driver.) Regarding the Oxygen 8 keyboard with a question mark- I get this in my MIDI setup as well, but I am 99% sure this is not actually an icon for the Oxygen 8, but rather a generic keyboard icon for some kind of device that is not there. I assume you have tried already and were unsuccessful? I just tried recording MIDI data into PT with my Oxygen 8 (without an external MIDI device) and it seemed to work fine. I have almost the exact same set-up, so this is convenient. what i was trying to figure out is.shouldn't the MIDIsport portion be viewed as an interface, and the keystation be viewed as a controller/synth that i should be able to connect it to? maybe i have the wrong idea of how this is supposed to flow.Īnyway, i would greatly appreciate any further suggestions you may have 1-IAC DRIVER, which i can't do anything with 2&3-interface icons (when i check the 'show info' for each, they say 'M-Audio keystation' and 'M-Audio MIDIsport', respectively 4-an actual oxygen 8 icon with a question mark through it. When i enter the MIDI setup window, i get 4 icons. I know what you are saying when you mentioned that it has to have an external sound device or soft synth for the oxygen 8 to control, but shouldn't it still be able to record MIDI DATA (regardless of whether you can hear it or not)?Īs far as the interface/synth device separation problem i was talking about, let me be more specific. OXYGEN 8 KEYBOARD NOT OUTPUTTING MIDI PROI also have REASON 2.5, which i haven't yet tried to connect in this capacity (I have successfully rewired it to pro tools, and also successfully imported/exported both audio/MIDI files into protools. The gear is just MBOX and a USB oxygen 8 controller (i just want to see if i can record midi data) I have a apple powerbook G4 running the latest version of panther. sorry i didn't include sufficient info, maybe more can help I can try to come up with a better idea of what's going on. ![]() If you post some more specific information about the gear you're trying to connect, the connections you're using, your computer, OS, etc. The only way to avoid this is by not using the Oxygen 8's USB connection and using a different, external MIDI interface to connect it with a sound module and your computer. ![]() When you connect a device to the Oxygen 8's interface, you are connecting it to the controller as well, and vice versa. This is probably old news, but I had to mention it just in case.Īlso, as you mentioned, the MIDI interface and the MIDI controller parts of the Keystation cannot really be separated, because they are indeed the same thing. OXYGEN 8 KEYBOARD NOT OUTPUTTING MIDI SOFTWAREWhen you say it recognizes th Oxygen 8 as an interface but NOT as a synth device, is it possible that this is because the Keystation isn't a synth device, it's only a controller? You must have an external sound module or software synth for the Oxygen 8 to control. I'm not sure i totally understand what the problem is, but maybe this will help? Forgive me if I'm way off target.
